SYMPTOMS
PREVENTION FIRST AID/
FIRE FIGHTING
FIRE Combustible. Liquid formulations containing organic solvents may be flammable. Gives off irritating or toxic fumes (or gases) in a fire.
NO open flames.
Alcohol-resistant foam, dry sand, powder, carbon dioxide, NO water.
EXPLOSION

EXPOSURE
PREVENT GENERATION OF MISTS! STRICT HYGIENE! AVOID EXPOSURE OF ADOLESCENTS AND CHILDREN!

  • INHALATION
  • Burning sensation. Cough. Sore throat.
Ventilation, local exhaust, or breathing protection.
    Fresh air, rest.
  • SKIN
  • Facial skin sensations. Redness.
    Protective gloves. Protective clothing.
Remove contaminated clothes. Rinse and then wash skin with water and soap.
  • EYES
  • Redness. Pain.
    Safety goggles, or face shield.
First rinse with plenty of water for several minutes (remove contact lenses if easily possible), then take to a doctor.
  • INGESTION

  • Do not eat, drink, or smoke during work. Wash hands before eating.
Rinse mouth. Do NOT induce vomiting. Refer for medical attention.
SPILLAGE DISPOSAL STORAGE PACKAGING & LABELLING
Collect leaking and spilled liquid in sealable containers as far as possible. Absorb remaining liquid in lime, damp sawdust, sand or inert absorbent and remove to safe place. Do NOT wash away into sewer.
Provision to contain effluent from fire extinguishing. Separated from strong oxidants, food and feedstuffs. Well closed. Keep in a well-ventilated room.
Do not transport with food and feedstuffs.
    UN Hazard Class: 6.1
    UN Packing Group: III

    PHYSICAL STATE; APPEARANCE:
YELLOW-BROWN VISCOUS LIQUID (TECHNICAL GRADE) , WITH CHARACTERISTIC ODOUR.

    PHYSICAL DANGERS:

    CHEMICAL DANGERS:
The substance decomposes on heating above 275░C, producing toxic fumes. Reacts with strong oxidants.

    OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE LIMITS (OELs):
    TLV not established.

    ROUTES OF EXPOSURE:
The substance can be absorbed into the body by inhalation of its aerosol and by ingestion.

    INHALATION RISK:
Evaporation at 20░C is negligible; a harmful concentration of airborne particles can, however, be reached quickly on spraying.

    EFFECTS OF SHORT-TERM EXPOSURE:
The substance irritates the eyes, the skin and the respiratory tract. The substance may cause effects on the nerve terminals of the skin , resulting in subjective facial skin sensation characterized by tingling, burning or numb sensation.

EFFECTS OF LONG-TERM OR REPEATED EXPOSURE:
Repeated or prolonged contact may cause skin sensitization.
    PHYSICAL
    PROPERTIES
Decomposes below boiling point at 275░C
    Melting point: <10░C
    Relative density (water = 1): 1.2
    Solubility in water: none
Vapour pressure, Pa at 20░C: <0.001
    Flash point: <80░C
Octanol/water partition coefficient as log Pow: 6.9
    ENVIRONMENTAL
    DATA
The substance is very toxic to aquatic organisms. This substance may be hazardous to the environment; special attention should be given to honey bees. Avoid release to the environment in circumstances different to normal use.
    N O T E S
Cyhalothrin is a pyrethroid insecticide used in agriculture, also used in public and animal health. If the substance is formulated with solvent(s) also consult the card(s) (ICSC) of the solvent(s). Carrier solvents used in commercial formulations may change physical and toxicological properties. Grenade is a trade name. Also consult ICSC #0859, lambda-cyhalothrin.
    Transport Emergency Card: TEC (R)-61G43c.
